
Tammy has 15 years of academic experience prior to joining the GASB. She served on the faculty of Northern Illinois University for nine years first as Assistant Professor and then as Associate Professor. She then served on the faculty of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), first as Associate Professor and then as Professor and the MTSU Accounting Advisory Board Outstanding Professor of Accounting. She taught governmental and nonprofit courses throughout her academic career, and her academic publications focus on governmental and nonprofit accounting and auditing topics. Before her academic career, she worked in public accounting and for the State of Arkansas presenting expert witness testimony in Medicaid fraud and utility rate cases.
Tammy earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from Arkansas Tech University, an MBA from Harding University, and a PhD from the University of Arkansas.
