DEAN MEAD, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES

Dean Michael Mead was appointed an assistant director of research and technical activities of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) in April 2021. He also serves as the coordinator for the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council, a position he has held since joining the GASB in June 1998 as a project manager. At the time of his appointment, he was the GASB’s senior research manager.
 
Prior to joining the GASB staff, Dean was a financial statement user. He was the assistant director of research at the Citizens Budget Commission, New York City, and an adjunct professor on the public finance faculty New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, where he was a doctoral candidate in public administration. Dean also was an adjunct professor for 12 years on the accounting and information systems faculty at Rutgers Business School. He is a graduate of Cornell University and a Certified Government Financial Manager.
