Upcoming GASB GARS Update, Online Store Upgrade: Timing, Outage, and Impact

The FAF is pleased to announce that we will be launching a new Governmental Accounting Research System™ (GARS) in the next few weeks.

The new GARS—both Basic View and Professional View—will maintain the content and functionality you are familiar with, but we also have realized a number of benefits through transitioning to a modern platform to support your engagement with our content and websites.

Check in with this site in the coming weeks for a preview of the new site, an update as to timing of the cutover, and answers to frequently asked questions.

GASB Store Outage

As part of the cutover, the GASB online store sites are currently unavailable for a period of time. All current subscribers will be able to continue accessing the FASB ASC and GARS Online content during this time.

GASB GARS: Temporary Feature Freeze and Account Suspension of Services

Similar to the FASB ASC, all current GARS subscribers will still have access to GARS but certain Professional View functions (annotations, bookmarks, feedback, saved search, history, etc.) will not be available until the new GARS platform is live.

During that time customers will not be able to make new purchases or initiate renewals of GARS, and administrators for ProView subscriptions will not be able to make any changes to their account, including adding or removing individual users from a subscription. To ensure uninterrupted service for renewing subscribers, all subscriptions that are due to be renewed between now and September 30, 2022 will automatically be extended through September 30, 2022.

We will provide updates on GASB.org as we approach the potential roll out date for GARS. We apologize for the suspension of service and inconvenience, and value you as a GASB stakeholder. As such, we will also be extending all paid subscriptions for two additional months at no cost to you. We will add those months on to the end of all existing subscriptions.

Please check back here for updates, or you may reach out to gasbpubs@gasb.org with questions.
