Economic condition is a composite of a government's financial health and its ability and willingness to meet its financial obligations and commitments to provide services. Economic condition includes three components: financial position, fiscal capacity, and service capacity.
This Power Point presentation, developed by GASB staff, discusses the basics of analyzing a government's economic condition using the financial statements required by GASB Statement 34.
The opinions stated in the presentation are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of the GASB. Official positions of the GASB are established only after extensive public due process.
